A new report has revealed the reason behind WWE star Braun Strowman not signing with TNA Wrestling prior to Scott D’Amore’s exit from the company.
On February 8, Anthem Entertainment announced that TNA Wrestling had terminated the contract of President Scott D’Amore and appointed Anthony Cicione as the new President.
D’Amore has been credited as the driving force behind the turnaround of the promotion and many of its stars signing with them.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that one person close to D’Amore after the firing noted he had been at odds with Anthem management regarding them keeping TNA in a low budget.
In one particular case, TNA Wrestling had an agreement in place with Adam Scherr aka former WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman to debut at Bound For Glory in 2021 with them billing the show as “Braun For Glory.”
However, Anthem felt Strowman’s asking price was too high and didn’t believe he would boost business enough to have the deal make sense.
Braun Strowman went on to re-sign with WWE in the summer of 2022 following the resignation of Vince McMahon.
WrestleTalk will provide any further updates on TNA Wrestling following the firing of Scott D’Amore when they become available.
