Reby Hardy Addresses Matt Hardy’s Current Situation

On Busted Open Radio, Reby Hardy revealed that Matt Hardy’s WWE contract expires in March, and he’ll need to decide whether to keep wrestling or hang up his boots for good. She also talked about her husband’s current status and transitional period:

“He’s not really sure what he’s going to be doing. His contract is up in March, which I’m not sure many people are aware of, but there’s sort of a decision to be made at this point as to whether or not he should continue his in-ring career or if he should pursue something different.”

Reby made it clear Matt isn’t upset about the pending transition, saying he’d be “totally up for it.”

“[He] would be excited to do [it], I feel like, so he’s kind of giving it a go right now backstage. He’s at Summerslam. He’s not on the card but he’s there, and we’re kind of going to see from here. It’s really a transitional time right now.”

Ever since losing the RAW Tag Team Championships at Extreme Rules, Matt Hardy has been teasing retirement on social media with various tweets reminiscing on his career and indicating that the end was possibly near. The former RAW Tag Team Champion revealed that his lower back & pelvis have started fusing together, which is due to all the top rope leg drops he’s used throughout his career.

Sources have reported that Hardy has been shadowing producers to learn and understand the job, with him helping to produce an improved SummerSlam.
