WWE 2K22 Roster To Include Released Stars?

An update on the WWE 2K22 roster has emerged, discussing the likelihood of released WWE stars being featured in the game.

Over 80 in-ring performers have left WWE in 2021. Following reports earlier this year that WWE releases significantly affected plans for DLC, fans have speculated that the upcoming game’s roster will be small compared to those of previous WWE games.

As per Brian Mazique of Forbes, talks with sources have indicated that the WWE 2K22 roster will be larger than some fans are expecting. Mazique pointed out that if stars that were released by WWE were still under contract, and on the initially submitted/approved roster, when details were sent to 2K, they could theoretically end up in the game.

Mazique stated that an ‘extremely broken relationship’ with WWE would result in these elements being overruled, citing CM Punk as an example of a star who will likely never feature in a WWE game again.

Noting that fans should expect the likes of Bray Wyatt, Johnny Gargano and Keith Lee, Mazique stated that after talking with those in the know, he’s expecting a roster of 150 wrestlers in the final game, including alternate versions of certain stars.

It was noted that it is unlikely that WWE would chose to feature WWE alumni who are currently in AEW, such as Adam Cole and Bryan Danielson.
