Unless the company re-signs him down the line, Nigel McGuinness’ last appearance on WWE TV will go down as tonight’s October 7 episode of NXT Level Up.
The show was of course taped on Tuesday, October 4 prior to that night’s live episode NXT TV.
McGuinness was calling Level Up alongside Matt Camp, who was filling in for McGuinness’ usual partner Sudu Shah, because Shah was filling in for Vic Joseph on NXT TV.
This might not seem like much of a story but there is actually something to it because PWInsider’s report of McGuinness’ release earlier today noted that McGuinness was released “earlier this week”.
McGuinness’ presence at the October 4 NXT tapings tells us it must have been October 5 or 6 that he was officially released.
WWE announced wholesale changes to its Raw, SmackDown and NXT commentary teams on October 6, which also resulted in the release of Raw’s Jimmy Smith.
