Report: AEW Feared CM Punk May Have Quit The Company Due To Frustrations AEW

According to a new report, AEW feared that CM Punk may have quit the company due to recent frustrations.

CM Punk returned to All Elite Wrestling on the August 10 Quake By The Lake edition of Dynamite after recovering from a foot injury.

Prior to the injury, Punk defeated Hangman Adam Page to win the AEW World Championship at Double Or Nothing on May 29.

Fightful Select (subscription required) reports that Punk and Hangman didn’t see eye to eye on the context of some promo material on an episode of Dynamite building up to their match.

Punk met with AEW higher ups due to the context of Hangman’s promo after voicing his displeasure.

Sources familiar with the situation claim that CM Punk has often verbally expressed his frustrations recently to the point that they thought “he might end up quitting the company.”

Those close to Punk said that he might have almost decided to stay home instead of coming to the August 17 edition of AEW Dynamite in Charleston, West Virginia, but don’t think he would have quit.

The report notes that there wasn’t any indication that Punk plans to leave AEW, but one veteran stated that “threats have been levied.”

CM Punk called out Hangman Page in his promo on the August 17 episode of AEW Dynamite, which apparently no one backstage knew about beforehand.

We will have further updates on the situation with Punk, Hangman and AEW when they become available.
