Since the promotion was founded back in 2019, very few people have been released by AEW, and of those that have, most have been for good reason.
One of the more unfortunate releases was Bea Priestley, who was released as she was unable to travel to America due to the COVID-19 outbreak last year. Priestley lived in Japan at the time with current NJPW World Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay, who she has been in a relationship with for many years.
Since her release, Priestley has made the odd appearance alongside Ospreay in New Japan Pro Wrestling, but according to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, her future lies outside of Japan.
Writing in this week’s Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reports:
“Although because of WWE rules, nobody can say anything until the company announces it, but Bea Priestley is almost surely headed to NXT UK.”
Meltzer didn’t specify as to when this is likely to happen, but it would be a big signing for NXT UK if the report is accurate. Priestley is regarded as one of the world’s best female wrestlers, and is someone who could quite easily climb through the ranks of WWE, much like Toni Storm, who is now a regular on NXT.
We’ll bring you any further updates regarding Bea Priestley when they become available.
