Ricky Starks has revealed a WWE Hall of Famer who inspired him to get into wrestling.
As one of the most popular stars in All Elite Wrestling, Ricky Starks has been in the ring with legends and top talent, such as Chris Jericho, Sting, MJF and CM Punk.
Ahead of his showdown against Punk on the July 15 edition of AEW Collision, Starks appeared on the Big Show with Rusic & Rose on Sportsnet and revealed which wrestlers inspired him to get into wrestling. He said:
“Dude, it was actually, I saw The Undertaker on a random Monday Night Raw where he did his entrance, where he stood at the ring post and he threw his hands up and the power went off.”
“I was seven [years old]. And I remember watching that being like, that is the coolest thing I’ve ever seen in my entire life. That is what I want to do.”
“And so from that moment, the bug had bit me, and I was, that was it. I was hooked. So I think about those types of moments, especially when I’m wrestling live.”
“Especially for people who’ve never been to a live event. So I keep that in mind first and foremost, every single time.”
Ricky Starks will face CM Punk in the Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament Final on this Saturday’s AEW Collision.
Also scheduled for the show, FTR will defend the AEW World Tag Team Championships against Bullet Club Gold’s Jay White and Juice Robinson in a Best Two Out of Three Falls match.
The Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament will conclude with Ruby Soho facing the winner of Athena vs. Willow Nightingale on the July 14 episode of AEW Rampage.
