Tony Khan has now commented on the ROH in-ring debut of former WWE and UFC star Ronda Rousey, following this week’s TV taping.
Following reports that Rousey was at the November 17 AEW taping, the former MMA champion made her first appearance under Tony Khan’s banner during the following set of ROH TV tapings.
At the taping, Rousey teamed with Marina Shafir to face off against Billie Starkz and ROH Women’s Champion Athena.
Tony Khan took to Twitter to address the reaction of fans in the building, stating that their ‘holy s**t’ chants were justified.
Khan wrote:
Justified “Holy s**t!” chants for @ringofhonor with ROH Women’s World Champion @AthenaPalmer_FG + her minion @BillieStarkz vs @MarinaShafir + her handpicked partner!
This bout was a rematch, with the initial tag-team match at Wrestling Revolver on Thursday ending in a no contest after Athena attacked Rousey with her ROH Women’s Title belt.
AEW will be announcing a major new signing at Full Gear tonight as has been hyped up by Tony Khan, but there’s no word yet on if Rousey is to be announced as that new signing.
We’ll keep you posted with any more updates.
