Rumour: Former NXT Champion To Be Added To Major WWE Clash Of Champions Match

On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that it is likely that Keith Lee is going to be added to the WWE Championship match that is scheduled to take place at Clash of Champions.

The current plan sees Drew McIntyre defending his title against Randy Orton in an Ambulance match, but Meltzer notes that Keith Lee might be added to the match before next weekend’s show.

Keith Lee and Drew McIntyre are set to go one-on-one for the second week running on tomorrow’s Raw, so WWE could use the match as a way to insert the former NXT Champion into the title match.

Considering Keith Lee has not been pinned on the main roster since debuting the night after SummerSlam, and has defeated Randy Orton clean on PPV, it would make sense to insert him into the title match.

Meltzer noted that it is possible that Randy Orton returns on Raw tomorrow night after missing last week’s show, and helps Keith Lee defeat Drew McIntyre, giving Lee a route into the WWE title match later that week.

At this time, it’s important to note that Meltzer is not reporting that it’s concrete that Lee will be inserted into the match, but did say that it’s likely that this is something that will happen before the pay-per-view next week.
