Samoa Joe gave the sort of thoughtful answer you’d expect from someone who understands his craft as well as he does. He mentioned that both body language and a basic understanding of human psychology go into it. As he said just a “direct stare will crush most human souls.”
Joe then proceeded to stare into the camera and I had to have a cigarette to calm my nerves. I don’t even smoke… that’s how scary that man is. He called the stare a combination of hate, rage, and fatherly disappointment.
During the interview, the reporter compared the careers of AJ Styles and Joe and their trajectory through other companies to the WWE. The reporter blatantly avoided saying TNA, assuming it was forbidden, to which Joe gleefully informed him he could say whatever he wanted.

Samoa Joe just chooses not to mention TNA by name because he doesn’t care. Plus, he knows it riles up the smarks. Joe flat out says that he’s trolling fans who get way to worked up over whether or not he mentions TNA by name.
Ultimately, he’s right. It matters very little whether or not the companies make mention of each other. It’s not going to change the rate at which we consume either product. Until Impact can become a viable opponent in a new Monday Night War, there’s no reason for the WWE to be afraid of mentioning their old moniker.
Joe went on to say he’d love to face AJ again, as he respects him and would love to punch him in the face. Though, a punch in the face may sound nice after all the crotch shots from Shinsuke Nakamura.
