An update has emerged on backstage discussions about two NXT stars potentially getting involved with the WWE Santos Escobar storyline.
The implosion of the LWO has been a focal point of SmackDown in recent weeks, with Santos Escobar attacking Rey Mysterio on the November 10 show.
Escobar had confrontations with the other members of his former faction on the November 17 episode. During this show it was revealed that Santos Escobar is truly on his own, with Zelina Vega, Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde refusing to side with Escobar.
With previous reports indicating that there are plans for Rey Mysterio to face Escobar in a ‘group vs group’ situation after he returns from injury, there has been a lot of speculation about Escobar’s potential allies.
Per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, there have ‘definitely’ been talks about possibly having Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo of Los Lotharios joining forces with Santos Escobar.
Noting that a nixed pitch would’ve seen Los Lotharios siding with Rey Mysterio, Meltzer noted:
“Los Lotharios, one of the ideas was for them to join Santos.
“And actually, originally, before the Rey-Santos thing, there was talk of them joining with Rey. That’s definitely been in conversations.”
Santos Escobar is slated to face Carlito at the upcoming Survivor Series premium live event.
