8 Ex-WWE Stars Sasha Banks/Mercedes Mone Could Face In AEW

8 Ex-WWE Stars Sasha Banks/Mercedes Mone Could Face In AEW WWE, AEW, NJPW

After what’s felt like an eternity of teases, reports and rumors, Mercedes Mone (fka Sasha Banks in WWE) is now on the verge of making her long-awaited debut in AEW at the Big Business event.

By the time you read this, it’s more than likely that the Mercedes Mone Is All Elite graphic is out in the world, we may even already have our answer to many of our burning questions regarding potential first opponents.

Most pressing of which is who will the former Sasha Banks feud with once she officially becomes All Elite?

The AEW women’s division is stacked to the gills with talent, so there’s not exactly a lack of options – many of which will be first-ever opponents for the multi-time world champion.

But for this list we’re going to instead take a look at eight potential AEW opponents, most of which Mone already has history with from her time in WWE. Starting with a big one…

8. Saraya

Sasha Banks/Mercedes Mone with Saraya in AEW WWE

When drawing up a list of potential AEW opponents for Mercedes Mone that make the most sense, this one has to rank at the top.

Sure, Saraya isn’t exactly the most prominent figure in the division right now, but she’s still someone with name value and importantly has the most reason to step up to Mone right off the bat.

While obviously completely unintentional, it was Banks that effectively ended Saraya’s in-ring career, with the former AEW Women’s Champion missing four-and-a-half years of action as a result of an errant kick at a December 2017 WWE house show.

While Saraya has stated she placed zero blame on Banks for this, in kayfabe that doesn’t have to be the case at all. In fact it makes for wonderful fuel to kick off Mone’s first big program in the company.

Of course, the temptation Tony Khan will have is instead thrusting Mone to the to of the division immediately. While this makes a lot of sense, it doesn’t necessarily have to be that way, with an introductory angle perhaps a better route.
