Chris Jericho became the ROH World Champion back in September of 2022, holding the title until the Final Battle pay-per-view in December of that year.
During his reign, Jericho took on a long list of former ROH World Champions, but there was one name that was not featured on that list that was reportedly in the works.
Speaking at a K & S WrestleFest signing, former ROH World Champion PCO said that he was originally supposed to face Jericho during his title run, noting that it didn’t happen due to a staph infection in his elbow.
He said:
“The match I was supposed to have with (Chris) Jericho but, I couldn’t do it because I had a staph infection in my elbow. That never came through. I was really, really pumped for that match. ROH Title in Chicago.
“Didn’t come through but, I was really, really pumped for that match… I thrive on that pressure, I thrive on that pressure. When there’s a match that means something to me where I’m excited about that match, I thrive on that, you know? It’s really exciting for me.”
That’s not the only match in AEW that PCO says he was planned for, as he also noted that he was scheduled for a match with Wardlow last year.
He said:
“Of course (I’d be interested in facing Wardlow). It was already booked one time but, it never happened.”
Eddie Kingston captured the ROH World Championship from Claudio Castagnoli at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam last month.
