Scrapped Plans For WWE WrestleMania 40 Weekend Match Revealed WWE

Scrapped plans for a main event match that took place over WWE WrestleMania 40 weekend have now been revealed.

The main event of NXT’s Stand & Deliver show saw Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams face off in their first ever singles match against each other following Hayes’ turn on Williams back at NXT Vengeance Day.

Trick Williams ended up scoring the biggest win of his WWE career in the match, defeating Hayes in the pair’s grudge match.

On last night’s NXT show, Trick Williams challenged NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov for the NXT Championship at the upcoming NXT Spring Breakin’ event on April 23.

Dragunov ended up accepting the challenge, but said that Williams would leave NXT should he lose the match.

However, Hayes attacked Trick after the challenge was accepted, challenging him to a Steel Cage match on next week’s episode of the show.

In an update from Fightful Select (subscription required), the Steel Cage stipulation for the upcoming Hayes and Williams rematch was originally considered for their match at Stand & Deliver.

Dragunov is also seemingly on his way out of NXT, with him making a surprise appearance on the Raw after WrestleMania show, declaring himself for the upcoming 2024 WWE Draft.
