Scrapped WWE Return To Be ‘Revisited’ Before WrestleMania?

Scrapped plans for the return of WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus may be revisited ahead of WrestleMania 39.

It was previously reported that WWE nixed plans for the return of Trish Stratus on the February 13 edition of Raw, following Lita’s return on the previous week’s episode. WRKD Wrestling had tweeted:

“Hate to backtrack on our 2nd tweet ever, but plans have changed due to Dakota’s injury and Trish won’t be at Raw tonight.

“HOWEVER, she is absolutely on her way soon, and we can share that she will be around for a lengthy program. She definitely won’t be in a role most expect…”

Dave Meltzer now reports that Stratus’ return angle ‘isn’t dead’. In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer noted that Stratus wasn’t scheduled to compete at Elimination Chamber, so she could still make her comeback in the future.

Discussing Damage CTRL’s current plans for WrestleMania 39, Meltzer wrote:

“Trish Stratus was at one point scheduled for Raw on 2/13 at the Barclays Center but it was canceled. The reports were it was due to Kai’s injury. On paper it sounds like they were trying to build Lynch & Lita & Stratus vs. Damage Ctrl.

“We were told that the Stratus angle isn’t dead and that the match wasn’t scheduled for Elimination Chamber.

“Kai & Sky defending the women’s tag titles against Rousey & Baszler is still on for Mania. Whether that means Damage Ctrl would work twice over Mania or something completely different isn’t known at this point, only that there was a planned angle for this past week to bring Stratus back that was canceled and is still expected to be revisited at some point.”

With Stratus being from Canada, there has been speculation that she will make an appearance at Saturday’s premium live event.
