Despite having a major bout at WWE SummerSlam 2026 that certainly felt like an ending, Seth Rollins doesn’t rule out fighting Roman Reigns again in the future.
Making an appearance on ESPN New York to talk football, Rollins was asked if his feud with Roman Reigns was done for good.
Closing the loop on The Shield

Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns wrapped up their 14 year story in WWE at SummerSlam 2026.
Intriguingly, Rollins didn’t endorse that he would never tangle with Reigns again, rather noting that it felt like the pair of characters simply put to bed one aspect of their shared history.
Noting that their SummerSlam 2026 match seemingly ended one aspect of their storyline together, it doesn’t mean the characters won’t find another again down the road.
Rollins said:
“I don’t know that that’s the case. I think it closed the loop on The Shield, the betrayal story. I think it closed the loop on that, I felt it allowed both of our characters to move in different directions so that we’re not tethered to that chair shot from twelve years ago.
“We can kind of take the characters — and we have over the years, but there’s always been that through line. Now, it feels like that’s sort of, for better or for worse, complete.”
Fight forever

Adding that there are still plenty of stories left to tell between the pair of friends turned foes, Rollins noted there could still be more fights in the future.
The former WWE Champion said:
“I’m 40, Roman is 41. We still got time. We’re still in the prime of our careers, so never say never. I think you could always come back to it, I don’t think either of us are going anywhere from the top of the card anytime soon. As long as there are titles to be won and legacies to be made, I can see it happening again.”
Future friends or foes?

While the loop may have been closed on their tumultuous Shield partnership, there is no reason to believe that the duo couldn’t work together in the future.
With both characters having a clear mutual respect, there is a very real possibility that the former faction mates could reunite in the future, particularly if an inter-generational battle breaks out on the WWE roster.
Since there are a host of hungry and competitive younger stars looking to take down the men at the top of the card, perhaps a working alliance between Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns isn’t as impossible in the future as it has been in the past.
