A new interview has revealed some details behind former World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins’s WWE WrestleMania 40 gear.

At WWE WrestleMania 40 Night One, The Rock and Roman Reigns defeated Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins in the main event.

Then at Night Two, Rollins lost the World Heavyweight Championship to Drew McIntyre. However, Rollins then made his presence felt in helping Rhodes defeat Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in the main event.

Rollins has taken his career and character to another level with his eccentric outfits and signature look. This was on display at Mania 40.

Speaking with Complex, designer Troi Anthoni discussed being the personal designer for both Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch.

WrestleMania 40 was the first time Anthoni had been in attendance to dress Rollins ahead of one of his biggest matches. On Seth’s Mania 40 Night One entrance attire, the robe that Rollins wore is called “Floral Opulence,” according to Anthoni.

The robe channels the idea of a flower blooming out of the darkness, and represents Anthoni returning to his flow following his mother’s death in March 2022. On how it was working with them through that time, Anthoni said:

“I did WrestleMania 38, and that was when I lost my mom. I just couldn’t even focus,”

“I didn’t even know what to do but I was watching an interview with Little Richard and thought, ‘What would Little Richard wear to WrestleMania?'”

“Last year, they told me they were going to do a bubble coat and I thought how would I wear a bubble coat, which led to that piece he wore that has hints of Andre Leon Talley.”

Rollins’ Mania 40 robe is also a nod to Rollins and Lynch being there for Anthoni when his father passed away on March 3, 2021. His mother passed on the same day just one year later.

According to Anthoni, the WWE power couple sent him a floral arrangement that meant the world to him and strengthened his bond with them.

According to Anthoni, he’s still processing the loss of his mother, but working with Rollins and Lynch on their individual signature styles has allowed him to keep pushing his creativity to the highest level.
