Spoilers have emerged on WWE’s plans for two previously released stars to return to TV following recent teases.
A cryptic video package aired on Friday’s (December 22) edition of SmackDown, with Karrion Kross and Scarlett hinting that they need ‘authors’ to keep track of all of their destruction.
This fuelled rumors that Akam and Rezar of the Authors of Pain will soon form a faction with Kross.
Per PWInsider, WWE sources have told them that the Authors of Pain will return to WWE on the ‘New Year’s Revolution’ edition of SmackDown on January 5.
The report noted that the duo will be back regularly after this.
Akam and Rezar haven’t wrestled for WWE since the March 9, 2020 edition of Raw, when they teamed with Seth Rollins and Buddy Murphy (Buddy Matthews) to defeat the Street Profits and the Viking Raiders.
The AOP were released by WWE in September 2020.
In August, a report indicated that Akam and Rezar had re-signed with WWE some months ago.
More recently, reports indicated that WWE had plans for the team to return ‘soon’.
This won’t be the only new group on SmackDown, with Santos Escobar joining forces with Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo on this week’s edition of SmackDown.
The name of Escobar’s new faction has potentially been revealed, which you can read more about right here.
