Stone Cold Steve Austin has addressed his absence from WWE WrestleMania 40, as well as status for next year’s event.
In the build to WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia, PA there was a growing belief amongst fans that WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin could make a special appearance during the show’s main event between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes.
Unfortunately despite being treated to returns from the likes of John Cena and The Undertaker, there was no Texas Rattlesnake sighting in Philly.
Now, over four months on from the event we have some clarification on Austin’s absence, courtesy of a new interview with Adrian Hernandez on The Unlikely Podcast.
Austin explained, while also dropping a tease for next year’s WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas:
“It was close and they certainly reached out to me. We had conversations but my wife and I had some things going on that I didn’t need to go to Philly at that time.
“I missed that Mania but god dang Philly was a good town for me back in the day and I appreciate those fans. I couldn’t make it down for that one, but WrestleMania this year is in Vegas… I hope to be there this year.
“If he (Cody) needs another hand I’ll be there.”
