It has unfortunately come to light that Melissa Coates, otherwise known as ‘Super Genie’, has passed away at the age of 50.
Coates had worked in WWE’s developmental territories Ohio Valley Wrestling and Deep South Wrestling, and made a cameo appearance during the 2005 WWE Backlash pay-per-view.
That cameo saw her play the role of a woman being picked out of the crowd to attempt to break out of Chris Masters’ Masterlock challenge.
In late 2014, she began managing Sabu in IMPACT and on the independent scene under the name Super Genie.
Coates was forced to undergo a leg amputation in late 2020 due to severe blood clots, but the cause of her death is currently unknown.
We extend our condolences to Coates’ family, friends, and everyone affected by her passing.
