Swerve Strickland Beats Former WWE Champion On AEW Dynamite AEW

On tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Swerve Strickland picked up a big win as he bested a legendary former WWE Champion.

With a pair of ‘Dealer’s Choice’ matches on tonight’s show, Swerve picked an opponent for Hangman Adam Page and vice versa.

However, Page refused to tell Strickland who is opponent was and it was meant to be a mystery.

However it was a purposefully poorly kept one as the copious references to Rob Van Dam continued to point all signs in his direction.

And in the end, it was in fact RVD who appeared to take on Strickland but with a newly revealed catch.

According to Page, not only did Dealer’s Choice mean he picked the opponent, he could also pick the match type and ruled that Swerve vs. RVD was a hardcore match.

While the pair put each other through the paces, in the end it was Swerve Strickland who picked up the victory via pinfall over Rob Van Dam.

After the match, Hangman Adam Page – who had beaten Swerve’s choice Toa Liona earlier in the night – marched to the ring with microphone in hand as Samoa Joe watched on from the commentary desk.

With both men having four consecutive wins in 2024, they are both undefeated and are anticipated to top the new AEW rankings.

Page said that he will ‘never’ let Swerve become AEW World Champion, adding that Page himself would be the next champion.

To end the show it was announced that next week on AEW Dynamite, Swerve Strickland and Hangman Adam Page would have their third – and according to Swerve, final – matchup, as the winner will go on to win the all important title shot.

Whoever wins Page vs. Strickland will go on to face Samoa Joe for the AEW World Championship at the upcoming AEW pay-per-view, Revolution.
