Speaking on Barn Burner‘s Fired Up podcast, Joseph Peisich has reported that the WWE are “very, very close” to agreeing dates with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.
“For the thousandth SmackDown, which by the way happens October 16th, they are negotiating and very, very close with [getting] a Rock appearance. Of course it’s The Rock’s show, lay the smack down, smack down or whatever”
The Rock Says…
Dwayne recently attracted attention speaking at the New York premier of Skyscraper. When asked about the possibility of returning, he said:
“I can’t wait to get back into a WWE ring.
“Whether I’m actually wrestling a match or just giving a promo, that connection with the audience, there’s nothing like it.”
But, there’s more…
Joe didn’t stop at SmackDown 1000, he went on, talking about other dates and possible programs that Dwayne could be put in:
“They are negotiating not only for the October 16th show, but about possibly being at the Royal Rumble and being at WrestleMania.
“The main event for WrestleMania 35 in New York next year is penciled in, if they get The Rock, to be The Rock against Roman Reigns.”
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard that particular main event for WrestleMania 35, WrestleTalk reported on Rock vs Roman previously.

Dave Meltzer has previously stated the following regarding a potential Rock vs. Roman ‘Mania 35 main event:
“Someone suggested to me the idea of [The Rock] and Roman Reigns in a match. At first, I thought, ‘eh, it doesn’t really appeal to me.'”
Meltzer then went on to push the hypothetical match:
“They have a built-in storyline due to their family heritage, and The Rock would have no problem giving his cousin the win.”
How much of what is detailed above comes to pass only time will tell, but Rocky appearing on the 1000th episode of the show that he played such a large part in building, does seem right.
