The Rock Responds To Backlash From WWE SmackDown Promo WWE

The Rock has responded to ‘networks’ and ‘standards & practices’ who supposedly had issues with the language used in his promo on WWE SmackDown.

In a segment that opened the March 15 show, Rock sent various shots at his WrestleMania 40 opponents Cody Rhodes and Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins in a musical fashion reminiscent of his famous original 2003 ‘Rock Concert’ on Raw in Sacramento, CA.

Much-like the original version, The People’s Champion’s musical segment featured some colorful language, with rumors abound online that the language used had ‘rubbed’ WWE stars the ‘wrong way’, due to what Rock has been allowed to say compared to regular talents.

While there’s no confirmation that this is in fact the case, according to Rock, it seems as if his words have maybe ruffled the feathers of the networks which broadcast WWE.

In a new post to Instagram, The Great One quoted one line in particular from the promo which he claims may have caused issues – before hitting back at the criticism in an unapologetic manner.

Rock said:

“You sound like somebody the Rock can love – drunk and horny” 🥰

Networks and “standards & practices” have issues with my language, but I’d rather be real than not. I talk from the heart, shoot from the hip and try to always have fun.

Enjoy the Rock concert 🎶 😈 🥃

While The Rock’s words seem to have caused a stir, his performance on SmackDown garnered the highest of praise from a WWE Hall of Famer, who called him the most “entertaining motherf**ker alive”.
