Big Update On The Rock’s WWE In-Ring Future After WrestleMania 40

Big Update On The Rock’s WWE In-Ring Future After WrestleMania 40 WWE

It seems that WrestleMania may not be the only time will see The Rock in a WWE match in 2024 according to a recent report into future plans.

While his match for the April WrestleMania PLE is yet to be made ‘official’, the March 1 episode of WWE SmackDown saw The Rock challenge Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins to the ‘biggest tag team match in history’ at night one of the event.

That expected match is The Rock and Roman Reigns teaming up against Rhodes and Rollins, and should the match be made official, a Bloodline victory would turn Rhodes vs Reigns’s singles match on night two into a ‘Bloodline Rules’ match.

As for plans beyond WrestleMania, Dave Meltzer reports that WWE is eager to get The Rock for a Saudia Arabia show this year as well.

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer addressed plans for May in Saudi Arabia potentially involving The Rock and WWE, stating:

When asking if Rock will be working that show, we’re told there are a lot of variables in play and a variety of factors but obviously the company would like it if he would.

But while nothing is set in stone, the belief as of right now is that Mania won’t be his only match in 2024 and there is definitely a push to get him to work at least one Saudi Arabia event this year.

It had previously been reported that WWE was targeting May 2024 as a date for the next show in Saudi Arabia. At the time of writing, no show name has been confirmed or any indication as to the branding of the event.

Per the previous report, there is the presumption of a second Saudi Arabia show in 2024 in line with previous years excluding 2020.

The later show has typically taken place in late October or early November and has been Crown Jewel with the last iteration being November 2023.

We’ll keep you posted with any further news on The Rock’s WWE status.
