The Rock WWE Return Plans Featuring Cody Rhodes Revealed

The Rock WWE Return Plans Featuring Cody Rhodes Revealed WWE

The Rock has left WWE for the time being, having stated he was to “go away for a little while” on the Raw After WrestleMania.

He did, on the April 8 episode of WWE Raw, promise that he would be back and would be coming back specifically for Cody Rhodes.

It had recently been reported that early expectations for The Rock vs Cody Rhodes would see the match taking place at WrestleMania 41 in 2025.

Dave Meltzer has now explored The Rock’s plans further in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, writing:

From what we’re told, this is very much a long-term thing. There is no planned date for Rock to return for a match, but it’s been talked about next year’s Mania.

Originally he wanted to come back and work with Reigns, but obviously based on everything that went down, the singles title match with Rhodes is the bigger match right now.

As things stand right now, he may work a match later this year but that is not a lock. He would prefer to work with Rhodes in the main event of next year’s Mania, and as we’ve seen, he is generally going to get what he wants.

That would seem to lock Rhodes in for at least a one-year title reign. We are told that isn’t a lock, but Johnson would prefer it.

Dwayne Johnson currently has two movie projects in post-production and a third set for a 2025 release.

The action-adventure comedy Red One is due for release in November 2024 and seeing Johnson star opposite Chris Evans.

He is also reprising his role as Maui for Disney’s Moana 2 due for release in November 2024, with a live-action version of the first movie set for a 2025 release date.
