Here’s what Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson was doing on the evening of July 30, instead of making a WWE return at SummerSlam.
In the main event of the premium live event, Roman Reigns defeated Brock Lesnar in a Last Man Standing match to retain his Undisputed Universal Championship.
There had been speculation that The Rock could make an appearance to set up a future match against the Tribal Chief, however this ultimately didn’t happen.
The Rock was actually at the New York Red Bulls game in Harrison, NJ. The New York Red Bulls shared photos of The Rock on Instagram:

Following numerous teases, it has been rumored that The Rock will face Reigns at WrestleMania 39, which will air from California’s SoFi Stadium in April 2023. The Rock recently confirmed that he’s open to an in-ring return.
Besides his six-second victory over Erick Rowan (Redbeard) at WrestleMania 32 in 2016, The Rock’s last full match took place at WrestleMania 29 in 2014, against John Cena.
The Great One recently took to social media to mock an advertisement featuring the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.
WWE recently announced more details about WrestleMania 40 in 2024, which you can read about right here.
