The Undertaker has revealed which current WWE star he would have come out of retirement to face off against inside the ring.

The WWE Hall of Famer has been officially retired from in-ring competition since wrestling AJ Styles in a Boneyard Match at WrestleMania 36 in 2020, and aside from occasionally dealing out Chokeslams – most recently to TNA World Champion Trick Williams on the July 22 episode of NXT – “The Deadman” has remained retired.

While Undertaker has shut the door on an in-ring return, he has now named which opponent he would have wrestled if he was able to do so.

WWE World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER was a guest on Undertaker’s latest Six Feet Under podcast and the seven-time world champion picked “The Ring General” himself as his ideal opponent he would have come out of retirement to compete against.

Undertaker said:

“If I had anything left in the tank, you’re the one guy that I would consider coming out of retirement to work with.

“From the moment that I saw you at Clash at the Castle, I was like, dang, I would have loved to have worked with you.

“I wish you would have got your shit together a little sooner and got here quicker. Nah man, everything happens for a reason, you’re at the right place at the right time.

“But it would have been really good. I might have put you over. We’ll never know now, but the match itself would have been awesome.”

After losing his World Heavyweight Championship to CM Punk at SummerSlam Night One, it was announced during Raw that GUNTHER will be “out indefinitely”, with reports ahead of SummerSlam revealing that the Austrian was dealing with a “nose issue”.
