After the September 8 NJPW Road to Destruction show, Kenny Omega sent a message to Will Ospreay. Omega essentially told Ospreay that he just wasn’t on his level:
“He’s a great high-flyer.
“He’s a nice guy, I’ve heard he’s very cordial and polite backstage, but Ospreay there’s a certain level you have to reach before you can become a heavyweight main event player. Go ahead, you have an entire series, we’ll keep giving you a try.”
Ospreay, Toru Yano, and Tomahiro Ishii of CHAOS faced off against Kota Ibushi, Yujiro Takahashi, and Omega earlier in the night. CHAOS vs. the Bullet Club/Elite has been features on many of the cards.
Omega went on to add:
“Ibushi likes a good work out. He loves it. So, if you want to do some gymnastics training, go ahead.”
Ospreay has been vocal about eventually wanting to move up to the NJPW heavyweight division. The ‘Aerial Assassin’ went on in the same video to call out Ibushi, and also claim to be focused on winning the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship from Hiromu Takahashi before Takahashi was forced to vacate the strap due to an injury. Ospreay plans on winning it and holding it until Takahashi makes his return.
