On the June 6 taping of NXT, Shayna Baszler’s next challenger for her NXT Women’s Championship was announced.
Over the past few weeks of tapings, Baszler has been plagued by the, to put it politely, completely insane Nikki Cross, and the two finally came to blows on last night’s show.
Baszler came out to the ring to call Cross out. Cross answered and cut one of the most unhinged promos in living memory before the brawl broke out.
Shortly after, WWE announced on Twitter that the two would be squaring off against each other for the title at NXT Takeover: Chicago on June 16.
Shayna has held the title since defeating now Raw superstar Ember Moon on April 7 during Wrestlemania weekend at NXT Takeover: New Orleans.
It won’t be Cross’ first attempt at the title, the latest of which came in a fatal-four-way against Kairi Sane, Peyton Royce and Ember Moon at NXT Takeover: WarGames on November 18 last year, a match that Moon won after Asuka had relinquished the title.
Do you think Cross will take the title, or will Baszler’s dominance continue? Let us know what you think in the comments
