Matthew Rehwoldt, who WWE fans may know better as Aiden English, has revealed he is planning a return to professional wrestling.

Released from his WWE contract in April 2020, the former Aiden English had served as an in-ring competitor, going on to join the 205 Live and SmackDown commentary teams prior to parting ways with the company.

A return to the independent scene would see Rehwoldt head to TNA Wrestling, going on to join the commentary team on Impact.

With his last match taking place in September of last year, Rehwoldt has seen few matches since 2021, and now has suggested he is ready to do more.

In a recent post shared on Twitter, Rehwoldt revealed he is “inspired” and has plenty to share, writing:

“Book me.

“I’m inspired to wrestle again.

“I want to have fun.

“I want to share things I know with up-and-coming talent.

“I want to try things.

“Let’s do this 🤟”

The wish to step back through the ropes would be in addition to his work with TNA Wrestling, something that Rehwoldt would confirm in a follow-up post.

More Than Just A Wrestling Voice

With Rehwoldt making it clear that he’s happy with his current work in TNA Wrestling, he has previously stated that he “can still go” when it comes to being ring-ready.

One half of The Vaudevillains (alongside Simon Gotch), the former WWE star would also demonstrate his impressive vocal range as he sang his way to the ring, associating himself with the Rusev Day era.

His time as a WWE star saw him hold a title in the form of the NXT Tag Team Championship in 2015, with the aforementioned Gotch.

It’s unlikely that Rehwoldt will find his way to AEW while under a TNA Wrestling contract, with his current employer enjoying a business partnership with WWE, something that the star noted after a fan suggested Tony Khan should book him.

Rehwoldt wouldn’t rule out the possibility of international appearances, however, after a number of United Kingdom-based promotions were tagged in a reply to his original tweet, with his last trip to the region being back in 2023.

Fifteen years into his career, and only 38 at the time of writing, there’s still plenty of years on the clock for Rehwoldt and a world of opportunity on the independent scene.
