Tony Khan Addresses Chavo Guerrero AEW Status AEW

AEW President Tony Khan has commented on the situation surrounding Chavo Guerrero’s AEW status.

Last week, it was pointed out that Guerrero’s profile had been removed from the official AEW roster page. Guerrero stated that he was unaware the profile had been removed, venting his frustrations in a now-deleted tweet.

In the post-Revolution media scrum, Khan noted that Guerrero was previously working with weekly deals, rather than a long-term AEW contract.

Planning to reach out to Guerrero, Khan said:

“I am gonna call Chavo. I’m about — to be honest, I was a little surprised cause I only missed one message from him and then he went to the media after I missed one message from him.

“I don’t wanna say what Chavo got paid for being the stunt coordinator for Young Rock but he got paid a huge amount of money and he asked if he could take the time off and leave. I said like — he was not under contract, he was on a weekly deal.

“So, I said, ‘I would love to have you back and I do like you a lot and you did a great thing,’ but now we’re gonna have to make our plans going forward without him here. We made plans going forward without him here and we went on and we’ve done a lot of great stuff and I really like him. He did great stuff for us.

“I definitely owe him a phone call and I was a little surprised to hear that.”

Guerrero debuted for AEW in July 2021, working as Andrade El Idolo’s ‘executive consultant’. His partnership with Andrade was ended in September after he was attacked by El Idolo, which is how Guerrero was written off TV to go and film Young Rock, and he hasn’t been back since.

AEW Revolution featured a couple of notable debuts, with ‘Swerve’ Strickland and William Regal officially joining the company. You can read our live results for the event right here.
