Tony Khan Provides Update On Interest In Buying WWE AEW/WWE

AEW President and CEO Tony Khan has provided an update on whether he’s interested in being involved in an upcoming WWE sale.

Khan has previously said that he was interested in seeing how things played out with the sale, and that comment was then followed up by reports from Barron’s and CNBC about Khan and his father Shad Khan potentially being in the mix to buy WWE themselves.

Speaking on the February 5 edition of the Mark Hoke Show, Tony Khan has now notably said:

“If there is a sale process, certainly I’m interested in it and potentially being involved in it. We’ll have to see what that process is, and who exactly they’ll let get involved in it. Certainly, I’m interested in it very much.”

WWE CEO Nick Khan recently stated that he expects a WWE sale to take place in the near future, specifically saying “maybe three months”.

Recent reports have pointed to Vince McMahon’s future with WWE being an “early sticking point” in talks with some potential buyers.

The aforementioned CNBC report, which was posted on January 12, had included the following:

“The Khans (Tony and Shad) are open to discussing a potential role for (Vince) McMahon, 77, after a sale but haven’t yet had those talks, one of the people said.”

There was also a new story that pointed to Comcast potentially not being in the running to buy WWE despite a lot of people having considered them among the favorites.

We’ll continue to keep you updated with any updates on the WWE sale as they come to light.
