It has been reported by various sites that Braun Strowman was originally set to challenge Drew McIntrye for the WWE Championship later this month at TLC instead of AJ Styles, but was pulled from the show through injury.
While the specific injury was not known, it is believed that the “Monster Among Men” suffered an injury to either his knee or his leg during the men’s Survivor Series elimination match at the pay-per-view last month.
However, Bryan Alvarez has noted on Wrestling Observer Live that Strowman does not need surgery for his injury, and actually shouldn’t be out of the ring for too long while he recovers:
“The story, as noted, is that Braun was scheduled to face Drew McIntyre at TLC but he got the leg injury and he is rehabbing it. I didn’t hear anything about surgery, just that they are rehabbing it. Presumably, he won’t be out that long but I guess we’ll see.”
It’s unclear whether or not we are going to see Braun Strowman in WWE in 2020 again, but the former Raw Tag Team Champion has been indefinitely suspended by WWE, so the company has an out to keep him off TV for as long as is required.
