‘John Yells Everything That’s Gonna Happen In The Ring’ – Top WWE Star Calls Out John Cena’s One Wrestling Flaw

A top WWE star has called out John Cena’s one flaw when it comes to “the magic” of pro wrestling.

2026 has been the first year since 2001 where we haven’t had a single John Cena WWE match, with the 17-time world champion calling time on his illustrious career at the December 13, 2025 Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Cena’s final loss to GUNTHER at that show capped off a final farewell year in WWE for the ‘Greatest of All Time’, and there was nobody Cena spent more time feuding with that year than Cody Rhodes.

It was Rhodes that was the victim of Cena’s earth-shattering heel turn at WWE Elimination Chamber 2025, with Cena then proceeding to dethrone ‘The American Nightmare’ for the Undisputed WWE Title at WrestleMania 41.

Cena and Rhodes would then do battle once more for the gold at SummerSlam 2025, with Cody this time getting the best of his mentor.

While Cena has had an indelible mark on Rhodes’ career and has influenced how he carries himself in his current run as one of WWE’s top babyfaces, however, there is one in-ring aspect of his game that Cody has questioned: Cena’s tendency to call matches at a very high volume.

Cena calling spots loudly has become a running joke among wrestling fans for much of his career, and Rhodes recounted a specific example from SummerSlam 2025 which almost had him “speak back” to the WWE legend.

Speaking on Good Hang with Amy Poehler, Rhodes said:

“John is pretty great at the magic, except for one area that is widely known to wrestling fans and wrestlers. John will not talk low or in carney, as we would say. Like if I need to tell you ‘Amy, duck the clothesline,’ I’d say like ‘Dizuck.’ 

“But John yells everything that’s gonna happen in the ring, as loud as he can possibly yell it. He calls it, for the first four rows, an interactive experience. 

“There the last match that I had with him at SummerSlam, he’s about to slam me with his big finishing move which is the Attitude Adjustment from a table to another table. So, it’s highly dangerous, it’s going to hurt. We’re going to do it the safest way we can.

“But you can hear him yelling at me while I’m on his shoulders that he can’t see, because my arm is over his eyes. And I never spoke back to John, I never wanted to speak back, he’s a mentor to me, but it was one of those moments where I thought ‘Buddy, I’m the one doing this, I don’t give a s**t, just throw me.’ Like I’m not worried about, he’s screaming at the top of his lungs ‘I can’t see.’”
