‘Watch Me Paul And Nick’ – Released WWE Star Sends Message To Triple H & Nick Khan Ahead Of Free Agency

A released WWE star has sent a message to Triple H and Nick Khan ahead of officially hitting the free agent market.

In late April, it was confirmed that over two dozen WWE stars had exited the company after either being released from their contract, or due to their deals expiring.

While it has become known that Alba Fyre’s exit was a contract expiration, as she appeared at Pro Wrestling EVE’s 150th event in early June, most of the talent let go have had to wait for their 90-day non-compete periods to end, something that is set to happen this week.

Along with the likes of the Wyatt Sicks (Bo Dallas, Joe Gacy, Dexter Lumis, Erick Rowan & Nikki Cross), Aleister Black, Zelina Vega and Kairi Sane, Santos Escobar is one of the released names hitting the market, and in a post on Twitter, the former Legado del Fantasma leader issued a farewell message to his former employer and bosses.

Posting to Twitter, Escobar, who has now returned to his El Hijo del Fantasma name, wrote:

2 dias: WWE. I gave everything and that’s what was taken, no regrets. Grateful for the people, the places and circumstances I was put in.

I’ll keep growing my legend and my indentation in the industry. Watch me Paul and Nick.

Escobar’s WWE release came only six months after he briefly departed the company in October 2025 following the expiration of his previous contract.

However, very shortly after he was moved to the alumni page of the WWE roster page it was reported that Escobar had re-signed with the company on improved terms.

While a renewed push was anticipated for the Mexican star, Escobar never returned to WWE main roster television after inking his new deal, instead transitioning to WWE AAA at the beginning of 2026.

A Chance For All Released Stars To Prove WWE Wrong

Whenever a talent is released from WWE, what comes afterwards can always go a number of different ways.

Some stars waste no time in taking independent bookings in an attempt to gain further experience and build their names, other, typically more high profile names, manage to immediately land on their feet and sign with another promotion such as AEW or TNA Wrestling, and some decide to take a break from wrestling or leave the business altogether.

Whether it be Cody Rhodes, Drew McIntyre or Matt Cardona, there are many examples of stars going from “undesirable to undeniable” by reinventing themselves outside of WWE, and attempting to prove their former employers wrong is no doubt a major motivator for success stories such as those.

While he’s embarking on his post-WWE relaunch a little older than those examples given, Santos Escobar could certainly make WWE rue their decision to let him go, particularly if he can return to Mexico and become a major player in AAA’s prime competitor CMLL, or even potentially split his time between them and AEW with a dual contract.
