Big Free Agent Debuts On WWE NXT

A big free agent signing made their debut to close out tonight’s episode of WWE NXT after recently becoming a free agent.

Back at TNA Slammiversary, Nic Nemeth began his second reign as TNA World Champion after he defeated Mike Santana in the main event of the show.

The match would end up being the last match in TNA for Mike Santana, with his contract with the company ending shortly after, him officially becoming a free agent on July 17.

It was reported during his time in TNA that WWE had interest in signing Santana, and he did not spend long on the free agent market.

Mike Santana Debuts To Close WWE NXT

Throughout the course of tonight’s WWE NXT show, Robert Stone was shown having a number of phone calls backstage with someone who would be arriving later in the night.

In the main event, Tony D’Angelo defeated Naraku in a Street Fight to keep hold of the NXT Championship.

After the match, Mike Santana made his debut in the crowd to confront Tony D’Angelo to close the show.

It’s worth noting once more that Santana was not referred to by name on commentary or on social media after the fact, so it seems as though his name will be changing for his WWE run.

More WWE NXT Collaboration With AAA?

Since WWE announced that they had purchased Lucha Libre promotion AAA last year at WrestleMania 41, we have seen stars from AAA appear on WWE television, and vice versa.

Recently, AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio spoke about his plans to expand the AAA brand, which included bringing in a former WWE World Champion, who turned out to be Damian Priest, as well as some more collaboration with NXT, Raw and SmackDown.

Two weeks ago, the collaborations with AAA and NXT began, with El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr and Galeno del Mal unsuccessfully challenging the Vanity Project for the NXT Tag Team Championship, as well as a planned AAA Latin American Championship clash between Hijo del Vikingo and EK Prosper, which was cancelled due to a legitimate injury suffered by Vikingo during rehearsals for the match.

Several NXT names have made appearances on AAA in the past, most notably Lola Vice who reigns as one half of the AAA Mixed Tag Team Champions with Mr Iguana, and there are more international names that would make fun additions to their roster.
