After NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver, Triple H addressed the reports claiming that he mentioned AEW during a recent NXT talent meeting.
Ahead of NXT’s move to Tuesday nights, Triple H held a meeting with some of the talent on The Gold Brand. It was reported that Triple H mentioned AEW, claiming that the rival promotion tried to bully the WWE brand.
According to Triple H, AEW was never mentioned. During the NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver post-show media call, The Game pointed out that the purpose of the meeting was to confirm with talent that NXT was moving days.
Claiming that “nobody else” was brought up, Triple H explained that due to COVID-19 restrictions, the meeting was smaller than usual, and was solely for relaying the facts.
Here is the full quote:
“Yeah, look, if I wanted everybody to know what was in the meeting I would have put out a memo and you guys could have just got it from one of your sources first hand and printed it. It was a conversation with our talent that was exactly that, it was informational to tell them where we’re going. Meetings that we have all the time given COVID restrictions. We had a lot less than we normally would. As far as the content of the meeting that was reported by a lot of people and elsewhere, completely inaccurate. Never said, never brought up, nobody else was ever brought up, nothing about other people, wasn’t about other brands or companies or anything else. It was a factual meeting to tell people where we’re going, where we’re headed and to motivate them going into the future. Nothing more nothing less.”
Triple H’s words were supported by a number of WWE stars who also claimed that AEW wasn’t brought up during the meeting.
Night 1 of NXT TakeOver Stand & Deliver was certainly eventful. Capping off an amazing night of action, the historic main-event saw a major NXT title change hands.
