On Monday’s Raw, Roman Reigns made the devastating announcement that he is once again suffering from Leukaemia, which also meant he had to vacate the Universal Championship
As a result of this, the Universal title triple threat between Roman, Braun Strowman and Brock Lesnar has been changed to a singles match for the vacant title between Braun and Brock.
Now, had Roman remained in the match, I think it’s pretty safe to assume he would have retained, but now that he isn’t, it makes it a bit more interesting.
Rajah is reporting that a source within WWE is saying the plan is for Braun to take home the title and then go on to feud with Drew McIntyre, which would make sense given their recent tension and kicks to the face on Raw.
They do not however rule out the fact that Brock could sign another short-term deal with the company, something that would allow him to hold the belt for a few months before dropping it to someone else.
A Brock win, at least in terms of logistics, would not work in my eyes. The crowd like to see the belt on Raw, and with Brock’s upcoming UFC match getting ever closer, you’d have to assume his ability to appear on WWE shows would be even more pathetic than it was in his last run as champion.
Go Braun.
