Update On Goldberg In-Ring Return, Potential Opponents Revealed? WWE

An update has emerged on the potential in-ring return of Bill Goldberg courtesy of Fightful Select (subscription required).

While there has been plenty speculation on where Goldberg’s rumored final run in pro wrestling will take place, with AEW frequently linked, a special retirement event in Israel seems most likely for the WWE Hall of Famer.

According to Fightful, the unnamed Israeli company potentially set to organise the event are also interested in bringing in several other former WWE names and even one current AEW star.

Along with Goldberg, names such as Rob Van Dam, Chris Masters, John Morrison and interestingly Sting are all mentioned in the report.

While it’s unclear at this time, there is a good chance one of these names could serve as Goldberg’s opponent if brought on board for the show.

Goldberg’s interest in organising his own final run in wrestling was revealed via an interview with Sports Illustrated earlier this year, where he named Israel as a potential location.

Goldberg’s final match in WWE came at the February 2022 Elimination Chamber event from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia where he took on Roman Reigns in a losing effort.

Despite reportedly being contracted to WWE for the remainder of 2022 Goldberg did not wrestle again for the company, with the WCW legend speaking openly about his disappointment in not getting a proper retirement match in WWE.

AEW have been frequently linked to signing the 56-year-old, perhaps for a marquee match at August 27’s All In event in London, England.

Despite AEW President Tony Khan revealing recent phone calls with Goldberg it does not currently appear as if he is set for a run in the company.

One of Goldberg’s ex-WWE colleagues recently called out the former two-time Universal Champion for a match, to find out more click here.
