Update On WWE Status Of Aleister Black

WWE star Aleister Black has not been seen since being drafted to SmackDown last month. His last match came in a loss to Kevin Owens on the October 12 edition of Raw and now there is an update on his WWE status.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Black not being used on television is not related to the recent release of his wife, Zelina Vega, or him reportedly wanting to return to NXT. Meltzer also noted that it doesn’t look good for Black in terms of restarting his WWE run.

During his time as the Executive Director of Raw, Paul Heyman was heavily behind Black, according to Meltzer. Black and Drew McIntyre were the two choices to defeat Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania this year. Ultimately, McIntyre was chosen, however, Heyman reportedly wanted to book Black like a top star afterward.

Unfortunately for Black, Heyman was let go from his role as an executive soon after WrestleMania. As such, Black has been barely used on television this year. His rivalry with Seth Rollins was more of a spin-off of Rollins’ feud with Rey Mysterio and his subsequent heel turn and rivalry with Kevin Owens didn’t last long.

We will continue to bring you updates on this situation as they become available.
