An update has emerged on Randy Orton, amid speculation about a potential WWE return at WrestleMania 39.
Following recent rumors about plans for Orton’s return, it was reported on Friday (March 31) that Orton had arrived in Los Angeles.
This fuelled speculation that WWE has plans for the Viper at this weekend’s event, which will emanate from California’s SoFi Stadium on both Saturday and Sunday.
Per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, he was ‘directly told’ that Orton is not ready for a return.
Indicating that WWE doesn’t want fans to expect an Orton comeback this weekend, Meltzer stated:
“This is what I was told. Randy Orton is in town. I was told by WWE that they said it was kinda like, ‘you can put it out,’ it’s not gossip.
“It was directly told to me that he is not ready to return. They basically said they don’t want people to think that he’s ready to return.
“So if for some reason that turns out to not be true, I mean, I was told from the very top there that and to put it out. They never lied to me about something this direct, so I presume that’s the case.”
Orton last wrestled in May 2022, when he and Riddle dropped the Raw Tag Team Championship to The Usos on the May 20, 2022 edition of SmackDown.
A big update has also emerged on Matt Riddle, which you can read more about right here.
