WALTER Opens Up About Wrestling In Front Of Fans (Exclusive)

NXT UK Champion WALTER has discussed the impact fans have on matches, ahead of his clash with Ilja Dragunov at NXT TakeOver 36.

Last year, WALTER and Ilja Dragunov wrestled a match-of-the-year contender inside the empty BT Sport studio. Tonight (August 22), the NXT UK Title rematch takes place at the Capitol Wrestling Center in Orlando, Florida.

Speaking with WrestleTalk’s own Tempest, WALTER noted that fans undoubtedly add to the atmosphere. Explaining that he gives it his all anytime he steps into a ring anyway, WALTER said:

“I mean, honestly, obviously fans always add, especially to the atmosphere, and it can give you as a wrestler a little extra push when you’re feeling tired or really sore from all the stuff that has happened to you. That definitely helps.

“On the other hand, it won’t change what I do in the ring, as a wrestler it didn’t make any difference to me if there was a full house or if there was nobody in the building, for almost two years now because it doesn’t change the effort I have to put in in the wrestling ring to put out the performance I want to put on.

“There’s no difference in regards to that. With the atmosphere, obviously I am happy to have fans back because for me wrestling is, especially like, a great life experience and the more people we have in the building the better it is.”

WALTER has held the NXT UK Championship for 869 days, and has defeated the likes of Tyler Bate, Tommaso Ciampa and Rampage Brown during his reign.

The Ring General has also revealed whether or not he plans to wrestle on NXT in Orlando more frequently.
