Former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay has confirmed his AEW deal allows him to return to NJPW.
At NJPW New Beginning in Osaka, Bullet Club War Dogs defeated The United Empire in a Dog Pound Steel Cage match with David Finlay pinning Will Ospreay for the win.
This main event clash marked the final contracted bout on the NJPW contract of Ospreay ahead of him starting with AEW.
In backstage comments following the match, Will Ospreay addressed the media and vowed to return to New Japan Pro Wrestling. He said:
“I signed my deal with AEW, and I’m allowed to come back and do New Japan matches.”
“I don’t know when that’s going to be. I need to find balance first because I have no idea what I’m doing right now.”
“I’m scared for this next job. I’ve had anxiety traveling to America. It’s not that I don’t enjoy it, I just get scared. I’ve always done this on my own,”
“I promise you guys on fucking everything, I will be back. I promise you. I will be back.”
