GCW has announced that Will Ospreay will make his debut for the promotion next month.
Ospreay will be in action at ‘I Never Liked You’, which will emanate from the Fete Music Hall in Providence, RI on June 19. An opponent wasn’t announced.
While Ospreay has been signed to NJPW, the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion has wrestled for a number of indie promotions. The star notably holds the Warrior Wrestling Championship, and the RevPro British Heavyweight Title.
Ospreay was meant to wrestle Hiroshi Tanahashi for the vacant IWGP US Championship during last weekend’s Wrestling Dontaku event, but was pulled from the show after testing positive for COVID-19.
He instead will challenge for Tanahashi’s gold in a fourway bout at NJPW Capital Collision later this month.
Following the announcement of AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, Ospreay teased a match with Kenny Omega, who has since responded to Ospreay’s challenge.
