An experienced top name in AEW has revealed an issue that both AEW and WWE share, saying “that’s always been a problem”.
Speaking of the stacked rosters that both AEW and WWE currently have, Tony Schiavone addressed the problem that brings on What Happened When With Tony Schiavone (subscription required), saying:
“WWE has it, we have it in AEW, we had it back in WCW … guys that’ll show up and just go to catering, they’ve nothing to do.
“I think it’s a problem with sports teams, and I consider us a sports team.
“I bet you there are problems in the NFL, I bet there are players that think they should be playing and don’t get to play.”
AEW owner Tony Khan had previously used an NFL comparison when it came to AEW wrestlers complaining about not being used on television, saying:
“It’s not really common in the NFL for the backup quarterback to complain to the coach that he’s not playing.”
Schiavone would also take issue with the concept of locker room drama, saying:
“There’s always drama in the locker room.
“For Dave [Meltzer] to write about it like, ‘oh it’s something new,’ is bullsh*t.
“It goes on all the time, and therefore I don’t think it’s as big of an issue as Dave made it out to be.”
It had previously been reported that a backstage meeting was held before the February 8 episode of AEW Dynamite.
The meeting was, reportedly, to “ease tensions” between Thunder Rosa and the women’s locker room.
