WWE Backlash marks the company’s return to Puerto Rico on May 6 with one of the country’s biggest stars going from host to wrestler.
In March 2023, it was announced that the rapper Bad Bunny was going to host the upcoming premium live event.
Plans developed, however, with the award-winning music artist making an appearance on the April 24 episode of WWE Raw and setting his sights on Damian Priest.
With the pair now set to face off in a street fight on Bad Bunny’s home soil, reports have emerged on the thoughts of WWE management toward the three-time Grammy Awards winner.
According to Fightful Select (subscription required), although there had been plans for a tag match featuring Bad Bunny & Rey Mysterio taking on Judgment Day’s Damian Priest & Dominik Mysterio, the decision to move to a singles match between Priest and Bad Bunny was made because both Bunny and WWE management “felt comfortable” with his “ability to have a good singles match instead.”
Damian Priest also has high hopes for the upcoming match, describing it as “the most special moment in (his) career.”
Big E recently spoke about “paycheck appearances” in WWE and highlighted how Bad Bunny is “so much more than that.”
Previously, it was reported that WWE Backlash at Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot has sold out.
