A WWE star has reflected on a special moment from SummerSlam on August 5 that saw a brand new champion crowned.
Following the conclusion of the WWE Women’s Championship three-way between Asuka, Bianca Belair and Charlotte Flair, IYO SKY successfully cashed-in her Money in the Bank briefcase on newly crowned champion Belair.
While the moment was memorable enough for SKY and Damage CTRL teammate Bayley, it was made even more special by the appearance of Dakota Kai, who is currently on the injured list after suffering a torn ACL in May this year.
Kai reflected on the moment on Twitter, noting the significance considering the group also formed a year ago at SummerSlam 2022.
Kai tweeted:
So beyond happy @itsBayleyWWE and I got to witness @Iyo_SkyWWE become champion, a full year after we debuted together .. through all the ups and downs, we love each other sm.
Thank u Detroit and #SummerSlam for the warm welcome, see u, love u x
Despite making an unexpected return to TV far sooner than expected Kai revealed in the post SummerSlam press conference that she was still “a ways away” from a return to the ring, with initial projections seeing her expected to miss the remainder of the year.
