WWE’s Danhausen may be set to continue his electrocuting ways, contemplating doing so with Cody Rhodes and Sami Zayn, but certainly not GUNTHER.
Last week’s WWE SmackDown saw Danhausen attempt to revive Kit Wilson and The Miz, with mixed results, only to come face to face with Berto and Angel, with the pair threatening the “Very Nice, Very Evil” star.
Thankfully, Matt Cardona was on hand to save the day, only to be electrocuted himself, leading to the shocked star exclaiming “woo, woo, woo”, and when asked if he was okay, only being able to state “you know it”.
With electrocution leading to some character throwbacks, Danhausen has now poised the question of what would happen if he were to do the same to Cody Rhodes and Sami Zayn, tweeting:
“Wonder what would happen if Danhausen electrocuted Cory Rhodes and Samuel Zayn,”
While Cory and Samuel may be seen as fair game to Danhausen, he’s seemingly steering clear of GUNTHER, stating:
“Staying away from Gilbert don’t want to get chopped.”
Danhausen thinks he has the solution to improve the fortunes of Matt Cardona, suggesting that the star needs to be “cursed back into Zack Ryder“.
The Electrocution End Game
Danhausen electrocuting The Miz led to the veteran WWE star uttering former catchphrases, with Cardona echoing a similar theme on WWE SmackDown.
It may be too early to see if this plot point is going anywhere, but there’s a rich seam of nostalgia that WWE could very well mine with this particular concept.
For a brief period of time, WWE delivered Old School Raw, with the show reverting, for one episode, back to a retro feel, tapping into generations past and that sense of nostalgia.
2010, 2013 and 2014 all saw Old School Raw take place, albeit with an emphasis on WWE legends, mixed in with matches that focused on the storylines of the time.
Perhaps, there’s an opportunity for something similar, be it as a special or otherwise, for WWE to present a Danhausen-driven ‘old school’ event in which a handful of electrocuted stars revert to former characters, only for the spell to be broken later on. It’d be a truly silly idea, but one that plays into the theatrical sensibilities of Danhausen and how he’s currently being used.
With SmackDown recently reaching the 1,400 episode mark, an opportunity to celebrate was seemingly missed by WWE, although there’ll be more to come with national holidays and other events that have typically seen the television product include some arguably sillier elements to celebrate such moments.
