Former WWE Star Wrestles First Match In 14 Months Following Departure, Reunites With Tag-Team Partner

A former WWE star has wrestled their first match since departing the company, and since suffering an injury over a year ago.

Zoey Stark was one of over 20 names to depart WWE during April’s round of talent cuts.

With Stark having been out of action due to injury at the time of her departure, the former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion has now made her in-ring return, on the independent scene.

Zoey Stark – now wrestling as Zoey Serrano – returned to the ring at RevPro’s Women’s Grand Prix event on July 25.

Serrano wrestled at both Women’s Grand Prix shows that day. During the first show, Serrano lost to Zeuxis in the first round of the tournament.

She scored her first win since her WWE departure during the second show, defeating JGU in singles action.

These were Serrano’s first matches since the May 19, 2025 Raw episode, when she suffered significant ACL, MCL and meniscus knee injuries while wrestling Rhea Ripley and Kairi Sane in a Money in the Bank qualifying bout.

Serrano also reunited with a former WWE teammate during the RevPro shows, with she and Shayna Baszler attacking Kanji with a steel chair.

The duo are now set to team once again, to face Kanji and Myla Grace on Sunday’s (July 26) show.

Serrano and Baszler were previously part of the Pure Fusion Collective faction in WWE, alongside Sonya Deville. This specific PFC duo last teamed together during the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship #1 contender’s gauntlet match on the April 11, 2025 SmackDown episode.

With Serrano finding her footing again (quite literally) in the ring, having the ex-WWE star re-align herself with Shayna Baszler is a great move, as Serrano re-establishes herself on the independent scene.

As to whether the duo continue to team together in other promotions, or if this alliance will only exist in Rev Pro, only time will tell.
