IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship Nic Nemeth, formerly Dolph Ziggler, wants to face Bryan Danielson again now that they’re both out of WWE.
Nemeth appeared at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18 on January 4, 2024, having been released by WWE in September of the previous year.
At NJPW The New Beginning in Sapporo in February, he would challenge David Finlay for the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship, defeating the Bullet Club War Dogs leader.
During his appearance at For The Love Of Wrestling, Nemeth spoke to Monopoly Events about his hopes of facing Danielson, saying:
“I’d like to be back in [the ring] with Daniel Bryan too, without WWE saying he has to win and protecting him.
“I want to go one-on-one with a guy that everybody treats as one of the best of all time and in the world and I go ‘You’re not better than me, not by a long shot.’
“So I want to fight him one-on-one while everybody watches and goes ‘Oh right, I guess Nic’s pretty good too.’ No, I’m freaking great at this.
“I would absolutely love that. I have a long list of some Japanese legends that I want to get into because I want to test myself, but man, when I come out on the other side of that, I’m looking for Daniel Bryan.
“I’m going headbutt him right in the head, knock him down, choke him out, tap him out. You name it, I can’t wait.”
Danielson and Nemeth crossed paths a number of times across their time together in WWE, with Dolph Ziggler failing to defeat Daniel Bryan on WWE Raw in 2015 for the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
That championship match, from March 30, 2015, can be seen below this news story in its entirety.
Danielson left WWE in May 2021 following the expiry of his contract and would debut in AEW at All Out in September of that year.
Nemeth was a Triple Crown Champion in WWE, with Danielson being a Grand Slam Champion.
